CHECKMATE TREASON
By Bonnie Toews
Trapped in the deadliest double cross of World War II, two women become pawns in a chess game played between Churchill and Hitler in their secret race to produce the first atomic bomb. Neither leader, however, is aware of an invisible third player, who controls the game. Once both women are drawn into Churchill’s special operation, they find themselves caught in a web of intrigue and counterspies, and learn to trust no one, except each other. But when one is betrayed, the other takes over her mission and is captured by the Gestapo instead. Now, not only does the outcome of the war ride on the atomic formula both women protect, their lives also hang on two men who are traitors to their country. This story is set in wartime Europe between 1937 and 1946.
In CHECKMATE TREASON, Bonnie Toews takes readers behind the scenes to show how the human spirit transcends pervasive evil during times of war. Although her novel leans more to intrigue, espionage and suspense with associated love interests, CHECKMATE TREASON sticks to the thriller structure.

Military Writers Society of America
We are an association of more than five-hundred authors, poets, and artists, drawn together by the common bond of military service. Most of our members are active duty military, retirees, or military veterans. A few are lifelong civilians who have chosen to honor our military through their writings or their art. Our only core principle is a love of the men and women who defend this nation, and a deeply personal understanding of their sacrifice and dedication.
Our skills are varied. Some of us are world class writers, with many successful books. Others write only for the eyes of their friends and families. But each of us has a tale to tell. Each of us is a part of the fabric of Freedom. These are our stories…
